Last Sunday, I visited Café Aléatoire to have brunch with a couple friends.
My friend highly recommended this place and called it home away from home. It’s a small restaurant with an open kitchen and a piano for entertainments at night. It is one of the charming little place that you feel like you will bump into neighbours or have a drink with friends late into the night. Comparing to all the trendy places with a seen and be seen atmosphere, sometimes it’s the comfort that makes the people keep coming back.
Onto the food! Their menu is simple and straight to the point. But still have a few twists to excite the gourmet lovers.
For example, The bear is basically their take on eggs benedict without the creamy sauce. The French toast sandwich isn’t soaked in eggs but just as delicious. And the frittata is crispy on the outside and has a chewy cheese center. Needless to say, everything was fresh and yummy!
One thing that made us super happy during the brunch was the owners’ dog Charlie! He’s so cute and friendly and wandered around the cafe to greet the guests. He can do simple tricks even with strangers. 🙂
I heard the cafe will close soon and it makes me sad to see it go. 😦 I’d definitely go back just to say hi to Charlie.
